Elmhirst’s is featured twice in this issue. In “Seasons of Celebration,” we’re highlighted for our farm-to-table Thanksgiving experience, where the turkey on your table can come straight from our own 240-acre farm. And in “Chasing Fall on the Trent-Severn Waterway,” we’re featured for our fall lake views and easy access to canoeing and cycling right from your cottage door.

ONTARIO, September 28, 2026 – As the leaves change and winter approaches, Resorts of Ontario has released the Winter 2027 issue of Great Escapes, its consumer travel magazine showcasing places to stay and experiences to enjoy across the province.

The new issue looks at the many ways to experience Ontario through fall and winter, from watching the colours change to embracing the snow with classic Canadian winter activities.

“Fall and winter offer some of the best opportunities to slow down, reconnect and experience a different side of Ontario,” says Kerri Sass, Executive Director, Resorts Of Ontario. “This issue gives travellers plenty of inspiration for making the most of the seasons, whether they are planning a family getaway, a couples’ weekend or simply looking for a reason to get away.”

Among the stories in the new issue is a journey along the 386-kilometre Trent-Severn Waterway during fall colour season, with ideas for turning one of Ontario’s best-known waterways into the backdrop for an autumn getaway.

As temperatures drop, the magazine turns its attention to winter. Readers will find ideas for getting outside, warming up and settling in at resorts across the province, including ice fishing, winter activities, fireside evenings, seasonal dining and special celebrations.

Wellness also takes centre stage, with a look at Ontario resorts offering experiences designed around rest and rejuvenation. From spas and hydrotherapy to quiet natural settings and good food, the feature offers plenty of reasons to make a getaway part of a winter reset.

Published by Resorts of Ontario, Great Escapes connects travellers with resorts, lodges, inns and other accommodations throughout the province.
