Her Night; A Beautiful End to Year One
- 24/05/2026
Every North Shore Wine Society event has had its own personality, and much of that has come down to the weather. A tranquil summer evening for our first gathering with Megalomaniac Wines. A crisp, breezy fall night for the Hunters’ Dinner with Huff Estate. A fog-draped, fire-lit evening for Cozy By The Fire with Colio Estate. Each one is unforgettable in its own way.
For Her Night, the weather delivered again, this time in the best possible fashion. Sun, azure skies, and a welcome warmth after a tough winter and a cold, wet spring. It felt like the season had finally arrived, and it set the perfect tone for an evening worth celebrating.
Jennifer Wood of Corkscrew Imports was in fine form, greeting guests in the lobby with selections from her impressive portfolio. Jennifer’s enthusiasm for wine is genuinely infectious, and she had the room buzzing before guests even sat down to dinner.
In the kitchen, newly appointed Chef de Cuisine Amber Ready and her team rose to the occasion with a four-course menu that struck a wonderful balance between elegance and richness. Each course felt considered and intentional, and the finale, a flaming spice cake baked Alaska, was exactly the kind of moment that makes these evenings so memorable.
Christopher Wilton made his North Shore Wine Society debut as the evening’s host and wine guide, and he hit the ground running. His selection of wines was thoughtful, and he paired them with a mix of wine history and practical insights that kept guests engaged and entertained throughout the evening.
Year One of the North Shore Wine Society has been a genuine adventure. From sherry cocktails by the campfire to a baked Alaska by candlelight, every event has been a chance to reimagine what a wine dinner at Elmhirst’s can be. We are incredibly proud of what this community has built together in its first year.
Year Two is just around the corner. Stay tuned.
