Catharine Tombs, Yoga Instructor

Meet Your Retreat Facilitator

Catharine Tombs hails from this area and grew up playing here on the resort property. She currently resides in Thunder Bay with her family and has been working as a Physiotherapist with a special interest in neurology for nearly 20 years.  Catharine came to yoga in her 20s while studying at University and initially appreciated it as another form of exercise until she delved deeper into the practice over time and discovered its holistic benefits for mind, body, and spirit, as well as its healing potential for many.  She completed her first 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2014 and a subsequent 300-hour training in 2018.  She recently completed a 2-year Mindfulness Teacher Training Program with renowned teachers Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield.

In 2017, she and Martina Linde, the spa manager, decided to offer wellness retreats at Elmhirst’s, which continue to grow in popularity as people experience the benefits of gathering with like-minded individuals to nourish themselves through contemplative practices such as yoga, mindfulness, and self-reflection in a beautiful natural setting.
