Fun. Spring. Friends. Wine. Art. Food.
Our #WineWomenCanvas Weekend guests checked in to their lakeside cottages, complete with a welcome basket & greetings from our team. A social gathering in the Conservatory at 7pm kicked off the weekend. Participants got to meet the featured artist, Jill Boschulte, while sampling some wine and snacks. The itinerary for the weekend was presented – a busy weekend is ahead. Painting class with Artist Jill Boschulte, a wagon ride with our Clydesdales, wine tasting & wine pairings with dinner with our featured winemaker Sue-Ann Staff Estate Winery. There is even time to fit in some Spa appointments.
Saturday began with a delicious breakfast in The Hearthside Room, featuring an omelet station, eggs, bacon, fruit, cereal and more. The women all met again later that morning for a unique creative workshop and painting experience.
The creative process was alive with the authenticity and inspiration of landscape and visual artist Jill Boschulte, our mentor for the #WineWomenCanvas Weekend. Working with watercolors and pencil drawings, Jill challenged the ladies to reflect on their journey leading up to the weekend as a vantage point to be expressed in their artwork. The results were colourful, unique, dynamic and personal.

Look, Smell, Taste.
There were three flights of wine to savour at Saturday afternoon’s tasting with engaging winemaker Sue-Ann Staff of Sue-Ann Staff Estate Winery. Friendly and knowledgeable, Sue-Ann delighted our tasters with stories of her rich family history, making everyone want to linger over more conversation and, of course, the wine.
Flight one, 2011 and 2016 Robert’s Block Riesling; Flight two, 2015 Lavelle’s Vidal and 2016 Elisha’s Chardonnay; Flight three, 2015 the Chestnut Tree Cabernet Franc and 2013 Fancy Farm Girl Flamboyant Red.
What could possibly make today’s experience better?
Something extra, a bonus feather, fuchsia pink boa takeaway for the “Fancy Farm Girl in all of us’.
