The first ever Elmhirst’s Meet & Greet for industry event and meeting planners is a one day event designed to show attendees all of the wonderful things that make our 240 acre property an ideal destination for corporate meetings, retreats, special events and weddings.
Taking place on April 24, 2019, this is a Meet & Greet that you don’t want to miss. It will be a deep dive into the offerings that make the Elmhirst Meeting Experience unique. The afternoon will include food, samples of our team building activities, live music, guest speakers, and did I mention food?
A memorable part of the afternoon will be an interactive cooking class and demonstration featuring Jay Nutt and Jennifer MacKenzie. This dynamic cooking duo will entertain and educate as they guide a small group through some tips and tricks to demystify some culinary techniques while making it fun for everyone. Jennifer and Jay will help cook up ideas to show how an interactive cooking class can be an ideal team building exercise for corporate retreats or meetings.
Jennifer MacKenzie is a Professional Home Economist who wears many aprons as a freelance food writer, recipe developer and media spokesperson with a little event planning added to the mix. She writes and develops recipes for print and online publications and has tested and recipe-edited close to two hundred cookbooks. She is the author/co-author of eight cookbooks, including the bestselling, The Complete Book of Pickling.
Jay Nutt is the Culinary & Service Team Leader at Elmhirst’s Resort. The former owner and long-time Chef of Nuttshell Next Door Café in Lakefield, Ontario and a graduate of NAIT’s Culinary Arts program, he has worked and traveled across the country with stops at Jasper Park Lodge, Toronto’s King Edward Hotel, and the Delta Prince Edward in Charlottetown.
During his time in the area he has been an active partner with Peterborough and the Kawarthas Tourism and a professor in local culinary programs. A strong supporter of local farmers and growers, his menus reflect a strong regional influence. He brings 30 years of restaurant experience and award-winning hospitality service to his new post.
