Sports, Courts and Kids
Stay active, and get in the game with: basketball courts, volleyball and badminton nets, and tennis courts. There’s also a floating playground off our waterfront and a dry-land children’s playground. Make your move on our life-size chessboard, or toss your ring in our horseshoe pit. We also offer a range of Ontario Children’s Outdoor Charter activities.
Elmhirst’s Resort has extensive nature trails right on the property. These are ideal for walks, runs or a short zip on a mountain bike, or tobogganing in the winter. Maps are available at the Front Desk. There’s also the TransCanada Trail (Lang-Hastings segment) nearby.
The indoor swimming pool and whirlpool are open daily from 8:00 am – 9:00 pm. Towels are available at the Front Desk and the change-rooms are equipped with showers. The outdoor pool is open from late May through to October. These are unsupervised areas: indoor pool, outdoor pool, hot tub, sauna and lakefront water toys.
Continue your exercise regimen in our renovated gym, which also offers free weights and treadmills. Others might prefer an aerobics class to help them tone up before hitting the sauna. Solo fitness buffs looking to execute some yoga moves or hone their buns of steel can do so with a video instructor. Whatever your exertion, a dip in the whirlpool is a perfect way to unwind afterwards.
Horse-drawn Wagon and Sleigh Rides
Albert and his team of magnificent Clydesdales offer rides year around at regularly scheduled times. Please refer to the Recreation Schedule (during Summer) or check with the front desk to find out when the next ride will take place.
On the Farm
The Resort has a range of farm activities and work to be done. Check with the front desk for what is happening today. Activities could include: meeting our animals; saddle club; feeding the chickens and collecting fresh eggs.
Ontario Children’s Outdoor Charter
The Ontario Children’s Outdoor Charter aims to get children outside to discover the wonders of nature. Spending time outdoors is essential to every child’s development, health and well-being. It builds a connection to our rich natural and cultural heritage. Kids connected to nature grow up caring for the Earth and helping to conserve biodiversity. Download the activity passport here.
