The skating rink was the first order of business today…..it wasn’t long before there was a game of pick up happening.

Good News/Bad News

The ice conditions will be ideal for the upcoming Snowkite Weekend Jan 27-29 – that’s good.  The hockey team holding many of the cottages for that weekend announced they were pulling out of the tournament – that’s bad….we were not able to accommodate the kiters who wanted to stay.  If you want to join us for the demos and lessons, call today – ask for the Kiteboarder Weekend Rate.

Snow, Snow, Snow

What is more beautiful than looking out the window at falling snow?  Fire roaring, soft music playing, hot choclolate in hand…… Although it was treacherous driving, it was lovely to see the white stuff landing.  Finally it’s looking like winter!

The snowfall today gave us a good base for the Kiteboarding Weekend Jan 27-29 and for winter getaway seekers.

Come on Ladies, you know you want to….

We were fortunate enough to catch the Toronto Maple Leaf vs Ottawa Senators hockey game in Toronto tonight, as guests of Sun Media, in the corporate box.  Thank you to our gracious hosts…..Peter was the lucky winner of the tickets at the Keene Pumpkin Festival.  The centre ice vantage point was great, although the score was less than superb.(Sens 3 – Leafs 2).

At least  everyone looked like they were having fun……..

Weather for the Birds

Brrrrrrr…..it was cold today (-17 degrees Celcius) but the sky was beautiful and the sunshine made it a great day for being out (for short periods of time) or in (sitting by the fire, looking out).

The birds had a heyday on the feeder….from early morning to late afternoon…..the chirping was frenzied but entertaining.

Also flying today, the PA-12 on wheel-skis, refueling on the tarmac in Pembroke.  Pilots Peter and Vanessa reported it was a great day for ice fishing huts on the lake.

Robbie Burns News

January 13, 2012 · 1 Comment

Robert Burns, aka Robbie Burns (1759-1796), the favourite son of Scotland – poet, lyricist, bard and farmer….so famous his birthday is celebrated around the world on January 25.  In the spirit of the day we will feature Scotch eggs, Cock-a-Leekie soup and a garlic horseradish roast on our menu from January 22-28.  We’ll leave the haggis and bagpipes to others but you will find a fine scotch and great beer to accompany your meal.

Burns penned Auld Lang Syne; My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose; Address to a Haggis; Tam o’Shanter; Flow Gently, Sweet Afton; To a Mouse (which inspired the Steinbeck novel Of Mice and Men) just to name a few of his works.

“The best plans of men and mice often go awry”

It’s Friday the 13th….Have a great day!
