Oscar Slip Up

Clearly a slip up tonight at the Oscars….no awards for blogs!  It was a true Hollywood star-studded evening.  How is it that Oscars are handed out for acting but the speeches are so bad?

Surviving the Storm

Hope you are enjoying the last of February – remember the old saying….March:  in like a lion;  out like a lamb!  Let’s see what happens.  This could be true…our Maple Leafs are winning hockey games so anything is possible.

Revisiting the Olympics and Foxes on the Ice

Thank you to all the attentive Learning in Leisure participants in Peterborough today, for indulging me and letting me relive my Olympic volunteer experience.  My slide show in Mac refused to behave so these lovely folks were forced to listen to me without any photo diversions….thank you for your questions and your interest.

First thing this morning we saw the Fox family cross the lake and head for cover.  It was quite a sight!

Happy Family Day – Happy President’s Day

Future hockey stars on the ice this weekend….it was wonderful to watch!  Blue skies, sunshine and overnight snowfall….excellent weather.

Winter’s Back

Before the snow fell in big flakes and stayed on the ground, we had the best moon on the lake sighting.  Who needs to win a lottery when this is what you see from your window?  It’s Family Day Weekend….I hope you are enjoying your family and planning to do something fun.  Monday is also President’s Day in the US…please let us know how you celebrate the day.

Despite the cold the farm tour was a happy meeting of urban farmers and animals.  Families were playing soccer in the snow….not as easy as it looks.

Early Spring

The snow disappeared in jig time with the warm weather…..the views were no less wonderful.  Rubber boots are a must with the puddles and streams of melting snow.

We expect a frost tomorrow but today we are enjoying a sneak preview of spring!

Where is Winter?

Just a few days ago we were in a winter wonderland with hockey and kiteboarders on the lake – the Resort was covered in snow – we wondered how we could cope with yet another snowfall…..after a few days of mild weather and then a sunny, crisp (cold) day we are anxious to have more snow (if only to cover the sand and dirt).   Bring winter back.

Don’t forget to get outdoors with your family this weekend…..ask about our Family Day Special for Sunday night.  If you forgot Valentine’s Day you may need a getaway for Family Day!
