New Year’s Eve 2010

December 31, 2010 · Leave a Comment

Can you believe another year is coming to an end?  It’s time to recall your favourite song,  movie and personal best, as well as people who have touched your life in the past year.  I hope your memories are positive and that we are a part of the happy times in 2010.

Although it was a dull day weather-wise, we had fun on the  horse drawn sleigh ride.

Have a safe evening – see you next year!

Kitty Cats, Kites and Hens in the Snow

December 30, 2010 · Leave a Comment

Kitty Cats awaiting their ride on the mini-snowmobile (aka The Kitty Cat) – getting ready to go and then taking off……quite a wild, brave bunch today!  On a first driving lesson it isn’t easy to explain the concept of throttle……give ‘er gas and stop appear to work best.  It was more fun watching the future NASCAR racers than riding (ask the parents).  At one point the action was thrilling and the spectators were wishing for high hay bales to protect them from the fast driver.   The riders and pit crew later relaxed in the indoor pool to cool off.

The girls stepped out for a breather as it was balmy out!     They love the sunshine and the visitors….wave when you go by.

We spotted a wolf crossing the lake this morning and were worried about Hunter (always looking for new friends and trouble) so we tried to contain her but the lure of the Kitty Cat was too much and she escaped with a worried guest in tow…..he did catch her but he was spent!  Hunter and Sohrab reconnect after the chase.    What a hero!

Kiteboarders were out on the ice today….with colourful kites and elegant moves.  This is just a segue for the Kiteboarding Weekend January 28-30.  Come out and try your hand at this exciting sport or just watch the fun.

Facelift and Visiting Cows

December 29, 2010 · Leave a Comment

FET, our Piper Cub aircraft gets a facelift with new dope on the fabric…..red is a hard pigment to keep so the work is arduous.

Local cows came visiting and helped themselves to our hay….the horses were fussed and eventually the girls (and a bull), headed home across the Golf Course.  They must have heard about the food and the view at the Resort……

The weather may take a turn for the mild so get here before the weekend and chill!

Singing carols on the horsedrawn wagon ride, sipping on hot chocolate and enjoying the warmth of friends and other carollers as you ride through the night, under the stars……is there a better way to get in the holiday spirit?  I think not…..Albert and Angie got Belle and Murdock harnessed and ready for the ride – after the singing was done it was back to the barn and into pyjamas for the Clydes.  Thank you to all the amazing carollers….best ever!

Countdown to Christmas

December 18, 2010 · Leave a Comment

It was insane in Peterborough today as everyone was trying to find the perfect gift for Christmas….may I suggest a Gift Certificate for Sunday Brunch or a day at The Spa?  How about a Couch Potato Package getaway?  All Peter wants for Christmas is a winning Toronto Maple Leaf team – so far so good.

We’ll host the last of our Christmas Parties tomorrow at Sunday Brunch - it’s great to see everyone dressed up and festive.  I wore my red fake-fur trimmed hat this week and noticed that drivers let me in the traffic lane, people smiled at me and generally got in the spirit…..how cool is that?

Travel safe if you are going home for the holidays or heading to Keene.  Christmas Eve we will be on the horsedrawn wagon singing carols under the stars……join us – the more the merrier!
