CN Tower Still an Attraction Worth Visiting
November 30, 2010 · Leave a Comment
I attended a reception at the CN Tower in Toronto this evening and despite the rain, it was still amazing to see the city at your feet. The gift store is great and the glass floor as thrilling as ever – if you haven’t visited the iconic attraction for awhile, I recommend it for families and for dinner (lovely wine cellar). Don’t leave your handbag on the windowsill or it will take a tour of the restaurant.
There are many cool places to visit enroute to the Resort – from the Bowmanville Zoo, to Cat World, galleries and ski/golf courses. Call us for details before you leave home.
If you are not yet on our eblast list please call or email us and ask to be included…..special weekends and value added promotions are sent out to those who want to stay in the loop. elmr@elmhirst.com

On my way home this evening I caught a glimpse of the pastel sky – you’ll recognize the view from the boardwalk. It was a beautiful, crisp autumn day – where is the winter?
Locals and day guests alike are enjoying The Spa@Elmhirst’s….a Gift Certificate for the Spa would be most appreciated as a stocking stuffer - Call Wilma or Cindy and be a hero!

No skating today….thanks to Ron Mackay for capturing the thin ice on film. The ducks and geese are still feeding out front – they quickly broke through the surface ice.

Decorated and ready for the first Christmas Party of the season…..the newly renovated Hearthside (fine dining) and Heritage (banquets) Rooms had a dress rehearsal tonight with the maintenance crew responsible for getting it ready on time! Thank you all for your unrelenting commitment to the final product.

The Hearthside banquette overlooks the lake, under the mirrored wall. Very elegant.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our American guests who will celebrate with family and friends today.
Dining Room update…..we were delighted to take delivery of our harvest table, known as the Chef’s Table, and the banquette for the dining room today. Our first party in the renovated room will be held on Saturday – what a difference our guests will see! The Chef’s Table, located in front of the fireplace, will be available for larger groups or for those who want to meet people while they dine. If you arrive as a couple you can sit at a table for two or join a group at the Chef’s Table. The view of the lake has not been altered – just enhanced. You may want a reservation for Sunday Brunch!

Last night the Dining Room team sampled the new Hearthside Menu – Insalata Caprese (tapa style appetizer), Chorizo & Pistachio wrapped Chicken, Prosciutto crusted Halibut, Lamb shank with saffron pearls and pasta…..just a few of the new features on the menu. Of course, Elmhirst’s Ownsteaks will continue to dominate. Desserts were too heavenly to add on this page! See you in the Hearthside Room soon.

Update on Peter…..the bones are healing fine but tomorrow he returns to surgery to assist with the healing of the incision. Thank you to all who have visited and called….four weeks lying in bed is a long time for someone as active as Peter.
Energy Tips – Thanksgiving Week

Share your energy saving tips with us…..I’ll start…..let food cool before storing in the refrigerator (takes energy to cool it down); add a dry cloth when you put your wet clothes in the dryer (dries quicker). I’m sure your tips will be more exciting.
This is Thanksgiving week for our American friends….travel safe and enjoy your family get togethers (not to mention the shopping on Black Friday).
Next Sunday, if you are in the Keene area, you will hear the local choir and school children in concert – a segue for the holidays.

Although it was windy and cold, future cowboys took the tractor ride to the barn for some grooming and feeding. BFF.
