Art on ice…I caught Stephen on the ice this morning, despite the low winds, he was snowkiting with skates on, enjoying the sunshine. Better winds expected for tomorrow.
Celebrating National Hockey Day, this lone skater perfected his form on the ice.
Kite down….don’t shoot….

Full moon on the lake, frosty night – very chilly, however, in the Wild Blue Yonder it was warm – the kind of warmth you feel when surrounded by good friends. The Friday Night Supper Club was the place to be tonight – complete with champagne toasts and Olympic cake (thanks Bruce). The Mackays are off to Peru and Argentina, I’m off to the Olympics, we welcomed Kato and Billy (Billy’s Best Bottles) to the group and drank some good wine.
The midget hockey team settled in nicely and the kiteboarders were seen praying for wind……see you on the ice tomorrow.

Surrounded by sparkles, spray tans and chocolate last night at “Be a Goddess Night” I realized “girls just wanna have fun”. The United Way fundraiser invites women to dress up, get pampered, sip champagne, indulge on chocolates and martinis, meet Elvis, see the latest fashions and check out new product ideas…..as a volunteer I was greeting the Goddesses as they arrived – Martina was promoting the spa with hand massages and make-up tips at her Arbonne booth. Now that home parties sell just about everything, who goes to a mall anymore?
News at 5:30 on CHEX TV featured Stephen and kiteboarding for the full program….it was a great promotion for the upcoming weekend….more snow would be nice but winter temperatures are forecasted. Watch the blog for more photos of the weekend events. Better still, come on out and try flying a kite yourself!

Big huge snowflakes falling tonight…..winter is back!
Just saw Avatar with a group of friends….you must see it! Long movie, very entertaining, 3D is cool and the special effects are not cheesy….what more can you ask of a movie? I think I heard Celine Dion singing during the final credits (why not?).
Snow kites on the ice this weekend – come on out; Family Day Feb 15 follows Valentine’s Day…ask about our Romancing the Family packages. Winemakers Dinner Feb 27…are you booked? March Break fast approaching…spend a few days enjoying the great outdoors.
Be yourself….everyone else is taken!

Global warming was evident today as we watched the rain fall and try to melt the snow away….by afternoon the rain stopped and now we wait for more snow….everyone will be delighted to get the shovels out.
This evening we attended a wine tasting in Peterborough…always good to see what other countries are doing with wine, talk grapes with interested parties and sample cheeses from near and far. It was just me and the Elmhirst men for dinner afterwards – a night on the town, very rare and much fun. Good night to promote our own Winemakers Dinner on February 27 with Norman Hardie, Prince Edward County winemaker. Join us for dinner or make a weekend of it.

Sunday morning, first light, what a wake-up. Today we are attending the Peterborough Wedding Show with hopes of creating interest for 2011 weddings.

Our booth at the show features photos of previous wedding couples in the horsedrawn carriage, at the barn and on the grounds…we encourage brides-to-be to imagine the possibilities for their big day. Romance is in the air – Valentine’s Day is fast approaching!

Cirque du Soleil at the birdfeeder – this can be very motivating if you are planning a circus career or taking up yoga or eating while lying in bed.

It was a beautifully sunny, calm day on Rice Lake….ideal for flying on skis – Hansreudi arrived from Switzerland just in time to get in some great sightseeing – no mountains no dodge!
Best wishes to Johnny Walker, who recently fell and broke his leg – he is now recovering from surgery – still bright and cheery. When asked if he was feeling alright, he responded “with a name like Johnny Walker one must always be in good spirits”.

Winter wonderland….walking on the ice today was refreshing. I had the lake to myself! Tomorrow I’ll walk out to an ice fishing hut…..
